Hi, my name is Payton Brown, or as I go by on the internet, Racin’ Payton. I am a 28 year old female automotive influencer and content creator who currently resides in South Carolina. I’d love to tell you more about me!
Growing up I wasn’t involved in the garage like you would assume your typical gearhead to be. Both my father and grandfather had a passion for cars, but there was no giant garage or debt-inducing toolboxes and tools involved. They did simple maintenance to their vehicles and both put their tri-five chevy’s on the backburner to family and life, but we spent every Sunday during race season watching Nascar.
One of the ways I love to explain myself is that one of my first words was “why?”. That applied to everything in my life. I would never take just “no” for an answer, I wanted to know how things worked, and I wanted to be involved. Fast forward to the age of 15, when I realized my time to drive was coming soon, I knew I wanted to not only drive a cool car but learn about them. I was very blessed that my dad bought me a 1996 Mustang GT and it’s been history ever since.
Social media became very important to me with my first, second, and every car since. I learned that there was a community online of people with similar cars or similar taste. I enjoyed sharing photos of my cars, of my parts and of my life. A few years after that I decided to start recording videos of myself working on my projects and uploading those as well. That has thankfully turned into something I love, growing not only an audience of over 400k+ followers, but has connected me to fantastic friendships, and created partnerships with some of my favorite companies. Along the way my fiancé became a pillar to my platform, giving me advice, teaching me more, reminding me that I can figure it out on my own, and supporting me in a way no one else has.
What started as a girl who cross-threaded the first lug nut she ever attempted to put on when replacing her tire has now trickled into a brand that I like to call Racin’ Payton. A woman who has instilled confidence into herself, learned as she went and hoped to encourage other woman along the way.
I am currently deep into two projects that I am so excited about- a 1988 LS-swapped Ford Mustang that I am building for stick-shift drag racing and a 2017 Chevy SS 6MT that will be receiving a 416ci engine soon. You can find me on social media with the tag racinpayton and I hope you stick around for the ride!
